Zachary High Wrestling History

Zachary started wrestling on the high school level in 1982. James Cupit was the first coach. Reggie Lawrence placed 2nd in the state in Division II that first year. Victor Jones and Jerry Thomas remain Zachary's only Division I State Champions. Zachary  has had 24 state champions (2 D-I and 22 D-II), and 10 state runners-up (3 D-I and 7 D-II). Zachary has also had 19 Greater Baton Rouge Area City Champions and 12 Runners-up.  Micah Easley (01,02,03,04) and Cade Felps (03,04,05,06) are Zachary's Four Time State Champions. They are only a handful of wrestlers in any class that have accomplished this feat in the state of Louisiana.

Zachary captured the Division II State Runner-Up Trophy three straight years (2001-2002, 2002-2003, 2003-2004). Those teams were coached by Jess Easley and Dale Richter.
